Hutcheon & Pearce Host Another Successful Trade a Toy Day!
On Saturday the 11th October, Hutcheon & Pearce hosted its annual Trade A Toy Day across 13 of our branches including Albury, Coleambally, Dubbo, Orange, Griffith, Finley, Forbes, Gunnedah, Temora, Wagga, Quirindi, Tamworth and Penrith. The event was a huge success, bringing together families, children and staff for a day filled with fun, trading and generosity. With a strong focus on community and sustainability, the day was all about giving toys a second life while creating lasting memories for everyone involved.
Big Trade Negotiations
The annual event is centered around a fun trade-in experience. Children were invited to bring along their pre-loved toys and use their best negotiation skills to trade them in with our staff. Each child received a trade-in value and a voucher to use towards a new toy of their choice. It was a fun and interactive way to teach kids about value, communication and the importance of recycling. Watching the kids confidently discuss their toy’s worth and make their trades was a joy for everyone involved. We even saw some barbies traded in for a new John Deere tractor (we’re not sure if this was entirely voluntary!).
Fun or the Whole Family
Alongside the trading, each branch hosted a variety of free family activities that kept the energy high and the smiles wide. There were jumping castles, face painting, colouring competitions, sausage sizzles and even animal farms at some locations. These activities created a fantastic atmosphere and gave families a chance to relax, connect and enjoy the day together. It was wonderful to see so many children laughing, playing and getting involved in the spirit of the event.
All for a Good Cause
Thanks to the generosity of our young traders, we received an incredible number of toys which have now been donated to local preschools and charities in each branch area. These toys will go on to bring joy to even more children, helping support families and organisations in our communities. The donations also reinforced the message of the day — that toys can have a second life and that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
Teamwork & Community
Our staff across all 13 branches worked together to make the day a success. From setting up activities to helping kids with their trades, everyone played a part in creating a welcoming and fun environment. The teamwork and community spirit on display was inspiring and showed just how powerful a shared cause can be. Trade A Toy Day was not just about toys — it was about connection, generosity and giving back.
A big thank you to everyone who came along, participated and helped make the day so special. We are proud to support our communities and look forward to doing it all again next year.
